In the course of the current financial year, the staff of the Health Inspectorate was transferred to the Sanitary Department by administrative decision. The establishment of the Medical Department now reflects the consequences of this change. The following posts are involved :-
One Superintendent of Sanitary Services, Two Chief Health Inspectors,
Ten Senior Health Inspectors,
100 Health Inspectors,
Twelve Clerks Class II.
Five Clerks Class III,
One Rodent Control Officer,
Five Rodent Control Foremen Class II,
Five Rodent Control Foremen Class III, and 48 Rat-Catchers.
Another transfer of staff involving nine posts of Lift Attendants to the Public Works Department is also shown.
A few changes occur in the establishment of senior posts. Two Assistant Dental Surgeons replace two Assistant Medical and Health Officers and one Personal Assistant to the Principal Matron replaces a Nursing Sister. Both changes involve no additional expenditure. One Health Sister has been transferred from the non- pensionable establishment to the pensionable establishment, and again no additional expenditure is involved.
Under the non-pensionable establishment the following regradings have taken place :-
18 Nurses in place of 8 Health Nurses and 10 Dressers,
One Steward's Assistant in place of one Stores Attendant,
Two Laboratory Attendants in place of two Boys Class II,
Two Latrine Attendants in place of two
Scavenging Coolies.
Promotions and transfers have taken place in the General Clerical Service and in the grade of Boys. New posts of Women Confidential Assistant Class I and Poster Artisi have been created and certain temporary staff appointed to the non-pensionable establishment.
Although provision for temporary staff has been reduced as a result of the transfers of certain officers to the non-pensionable establishment there have been certain increases compared with 1949/50. An evening out-patients clinic has been established at which a number of local medical practitioners attend voluntarily from 6.p.m. to 8. p.m. but it has been necessary for
